Now, I know what you’re thinking: that doesn’t sound like Jesus. Surely there must be some explanation. Which is why, for centuries, people have tried to figure out why Jesus kills this tree. Was Jesus just really hangry? Did the tree have some sort of defect?
Or is there something deeper, something bigger going on here, something about this moment that should truly concern us because if we don’t see it well, Jesus might feel the same way about us that he does that tree!
